Summary

One of Mark Cuban's top reads for better understanding A。I。 (inc。com, 2021) Your comprehensive entry-level guide to machine learning

While machine learning expertise doesn't quite mean you can create your own Turing Test-proof android--as in the movie Ex Machina--it is a form of artificial intelligence and one of the most exciting technological means of identifying opportunities and solving problems fast and on a large scale。 Anyone who masters the principles of machine learning is mastering a big part of our tech future and opening up incredible new directions in careers that include fraud detection, optimizing search results, serving real-time ads, credit-scoring, building accurate and sophisticated pricing models--and way, way more。

Unlike most machine learning books, the fully updated 2nd Edition of Machine Learning For Dummies doesn't assume you have years of experience using programming languages such as Python (R source is also included in a downloadable form with comments and explanations), but lets you in on the ground floor, covering the entry-level materials that will get you up and running building models you need to perform practical tasks。 It takes a look at the underlying--and fascinating--math principles that power machine learning but also shows that you don't need to be a math whiz to build fun new tools and apply them to your work and study。

Understand the history of AI and machine learning Work with Python 3。8 and TensorFlow 2。x (and R as a download) Build and test your own models Use the latest datasets, rather than the worn out data found in other books Apply machine learning to real problems Whether you want to learn for college or to enhance your business or career performance, this friendly beginner's guide is your best introduction to machine learning, allowing you to become quickly confident using this amazing and fast-developing technology that's impacting lives for the better all over the world。

I must say, this is one of those books that cover so much in such a simpler and fun way! The book, Machine Learning For Dummies is a guidebook of resources for all answers that one may have on computers, AI, programming, data, and so much more! It's quite a great way to learn something new and gain knowledge about the devices one may own or want to own someday。 Also if it's just to fill the curiosity someone may have, this can help with that too! The book provides information on each topic in full explanatory detail and has a down-to-earth manner of doing so without it feeling too much of a joke or ridiculous topic。 So even those who are tech-savvy and love those large text style books can find it pleasing。 Additionally, It's relaxed enough that many who find it easy to read books with less confusing tech words would find it easy to follow along。 Therefore, it's perfect for everyone and everyone who wants to learn about this topic, Machine Learning, in general, will find it very easy to comprehend and understand。 The bonus benefit of this book is that it covers new information being the 2nd edition, more up-to-date details on datasets and examples。 Focusing on the most recent discoveries and models into practice。 Such as using R for data, MatLab, Java, Google, Amazon, and even programming with C++ and Python 3。8, which is the recent version the last time I checked。 However, this book can still be great even if it gets a bit behind a few recent changes Since it carries a load of information relating to topics that cover many processes that don't ever get removed but stay put even if new editions come out。 So for the use of any platform, the program included inside this book does have a great resource on how to download and examples on how to use them for beginners at any stage of learning。 It's quite focused on many topics, so if one wants to get their questions answered and debunk those myths about machine learning, well that is alose a part of this book。 Putting the reader in the right mindset of what this learning is all about and what to expect。Lastly, if it's security, design, process, real-life problems, and just about any topic one wants to focus on while learning about a machine, well this is the book and guide to help! It's quite remarkable and so easy to use as well as learn from。 Nothing but a great outlook on the present and future of machines。I have been given a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion" 。。。more

Even though this books provides some good information about machine learning and how it works, I would not say that it is written for "dummies"。I had some understanding of Python, but still found this book a bit difficult to understand and skipped a few chapters。 Even though this books provides some good information about machine learning and how it works, I would not say that it is written for "dummies"。I had some understanding of Python, but still found this book a bit difficult to understand and skipped a few chapters。 。。。more

I'm not sure how much of that I actually understood, but it was fascinating for what I did get。 While I would have liked more hands on examples I get why that's hard。The thing I will take away from this book is that machine learning is not what most people think it is。 You do not feed a computer data and it just spits out a solution。 If you show a computer 10,000 pictures of an apple, it doesn't understand what an apple is, or what colors it can be, or that it's round。 A computer learns that whe I'm not sure how much of that I actually understood, but it was fascinating for what I did get。 While I would have liked more hands on examples I get why that's hard。The thing I will take away from this book is that machine learning is not what most people think it is。 You do not feed a computer data and it just spits out a solution。 If you show a computer 10,000 pictures of an apple, it doesn't understand what an apple is, or what colors it can be, or that it's round。 A computer learns that when certain pieces of data in a table or vector are run through an algorithm, and they exceed a certain value, you get a positive result。 The computer does not tweak that algorithm itself; it provides scores and results that allow data scientists to adjust the algorithm and try again。If you're well versed in Python, and understand some of the more advanced mathematics concepts, you'll probably be fine with this and get a good general sense of what's happening behind the scenes, but don't expect to get a tutorial on how to do this。 。。。more

They wasted almost 100 pages of the book on R and Python installation!

It's good。 It kinda goes from 0 to 100 about halfway in though。 Helps to have a basic understanding of math, stats and programming before reading this, or else you're probably going to get very lost。 It's good。 It kinda goes from 0 to 100 about halfway in though。 Helps to have a basic understanding of math, stats and programming before reading this, or else you're probably going to get very lost。 。。。more

I recommend this book if you are not from the field and want to have a better view of 'what is happening over there with this fancy AI stuff'。 It gives a very broad view and correct the biggest problems someone might have with it。 If you are willing to learn Machine Learning I'd suggest the Machine Learning course in Coursera first。 I recommend this book if you are not from the field and want to have a better view of 'what is happening over there with this fancy AI stuff'。 It gives a very broad view and correct the biggest problems someone might have with it。 If you are willing to learn Machine Learning I'd suggest the Machine Learning course in Coursera first。 。。。more

I am fascinated by machine learning。 I just have a hard time learning machine learning。 When I read the word math I thought there is now way I could learn math so I am still not good at math。 What is the point of what I am writing。 I have no idea。 I enjoyed reading about neural networks, R and python。 I like the chapter about machine learning library's to learn。 I have got a long way to go to become good at machine learning but, I think this book got me on my way。 I am fascinated by machine learning。 I just have a hard time learning machine learning。 When I read the word math I thought there is now way I could learn math so I am still not good at math。 What is the point of what I am writing。 I have no idea。 I enjoyed reading about neural networks, R and python。 I like the chapter about machine learning library's to learn。 I have got a long way to go to become good at machine learning but, I think this book got me on my way。 。。。more
